International market expansion strategy for a leading Indian food company

Project Brief

The client was a leading food brand of India and sought market expansion of its product basket in newer geographies of Asia and Africa.

Team’s Scope of Work:

  1. Detailed review of fast-growing markets in Asia and Africa for the client’s product line
  2. Assessment of shortlisted markets in terms of current demand & future projections, competition assessment, quality paraments, regulations, banking, supply chain, logistics and manpower availability among others
  3. Drafting a ‘Roll Out’ Plan with identification of local partners for various operational and supply chain categories
  4. Helped client resolve two key questions –
    1. Launch same brand or new one
    2. Source from its existing manufacturing base in India v/s more proximate sourcing base

Outcome:

With all ground work done, the client plans to start operations in new markets by Q3 of 2020
