India’s Energy and Protein Bars Market: Fastest-Growing Snack, Least Reliably Stocked
Energy and protein bars sold ₹200 Cr on quick commerce in India between July and September 2026, with monthly sales rising 33% from ₹57 Cr to ₹76 Cr. Snacks and munchies overall grew 3%, while chips fell 13% and namkeen fell 3% over the same months.
The structural constraint is availability. Bars were in stock 74% of the time against 81% for all snacks, even as September sales per store per day reached ₹6,156, second only to namkeen at ₹9,152.
Where the demand sits
- Protein bars and protein wafers account for 86% of category sales, with protein bars alone at ₹120 Cr. Energy bars hold 9%.
- Instamart holds 46% of sales and grew 54% from ₹24 Cr in July to ₹37 Cr in September. Blinkit holds 33% and Zepto 21%. Zepto has the most varied mix, with bites and balls at 14% of its bar sales.
- Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Pune contribute 54% together. Delhi NCR overtook Bengaluru in September, at ₹10.9 Cr against ₹10.4 Cr.
- Chennai rose from ₹2.0 Cr in July to ₹8.2 Cr in September. Ahmedabad rose 180% over the same period.
A concentrated field with fast challengers
RiteBite Max Protein holds 46% of sales and grew 13%. Noice grew 168% and SuperYou 89%, both from smaller bases. Noice, sold only on Instamart, rose from ₹2.3 Cr in July to ₹6.1 Cr in September, yet is in stock 66% of the time, against 92% for Yoga Bar.
Packs and combos make up 88% of top-10 product sales, so the basket is built on bundles rather than single bars. The top product, a RiteBite bar and cookies combo on Blinkit, sold ₹12.3 Cr.
Imports and the sizing problem
Imports of bars, wafers and bites reached ₹330 Cr in FY26, up 81% from ₹183 Cr in FY24, with wafers rising 194%. Published India market estimates for this category vary widely by definition, so transaction-level quick-commerce data gives a cleaner read of what shoppers actually buy.
A category that added ₹19 Cr in monthly sales within one quarter, yet is in stock 74% of the time, has a stock gap before it has a demand problem.
